chuck,

you are a dear, and one of my internationally traveled friends who can appreciate what a laptop failure can mean. i'm sure if you were in a situation similar to mine you'd have *sumund* (resilience) in abundance. one reason: we both frequent places like palestine and pakistan and parts of africa that are filled with people who persist and eventually overcome their obstacles. they influence us. teach us.

see ya down the road, old buddy,

What an incredible story ... ! I also admire and applaud your "sumud" ... atlhough I might call it pure pig-headed obstinancy and unwillingness to give in to an engineering challenge. Regardless, you were resourceful ... and found a way through it all. Congrats!

P.S. I can relate ... had scary problems with my own hard drive last summer in Ghana.
